Why this workshop

  • “Systems change, not climate change”
  • “End capitalism”
  • “Decolonise your mind”
  • “Matriarchy now”

You may have seen these statements on social media. You may agree with some/all of them, or even be engaged in work related to this. What they all have in common is that they speak to a profound change. An uprooting of the paradigm(s) within which our current systems are anchored.

This can seem like an impossible task, even if you feel it’s needed. Where do you even begin if you understand that patriarchy, for example, permeates every facet of ‘Western’ society?

The good news is that these paradigms live within all of us. We are the system, even if we are not its most powerful members. And we can do the inner work to shift these paradigms within us, and embody the kind of future we wish to see. Sounds straightforward? It’s not, unfortunately. It requires us to undo years of conditioning and confront our privilege and blind spots. But it is within our sphere of influence, and a concrete step we can take.

From there, we can orient our changework to shifting paradigms. In this workshop, we’ll cover the foundations of both the inner and outer work of shifting paradigms.

In the Paradigm Shifts 101 workshop, you’ll learn:

  • What ‘paradigms’ even are, and how to get a sense of what paradigms a certain system is rooted in
  • How to identify the root causes of any issue you care about using the Iceberg Model
  • The key role that disconnection (from nature, others and self) plays in keeping us stuck in unhealthy patterns, individually and collectively
  • Why incremental improvements in systems like ‘Diversity & Inclusion’ or ‘Green Growth’ fall short of driving real change, and what we need instead
  • Tools to reflect on your own position in the system, so that you can navigate existing power structure with more awareness (and without replicating the very thing you’re trying to change)
  • Concrete next steps to increasingly contribute to shifting paradigms
  • And more!

What others have said about our workshops

Nora, Parayma founder, sits in a chair with her legs crossed and one hand rests on her face. The Parayma logo is reorganized into hearts up to the right, down to the left is a squiggly arrow pointing down.

I’m Nora, your workshop co-host

Founder of Parayma, the well change atelier, and collaboratio helvetica, and mentor for changeworkers who want to work with and learn from someone who understands the unique struggles of this work.

Since 2010, after I awoke to the state of the world, I’ve dedicated my life and career towards shifting paradigms for a more just, regenerative, and beautiful future for everyone. After working in the field for so long, I realised I needed to deepen and expand my contribution, and I couldn’t do that by just working longer hours. The change we work towards had to be deeper.

So I've started a path of learning from experts, taking courses, reading books, and putting all of that into practice in my systems change work in Switzerland. Today, 10 years later, I’m focused on giving people like you the tools and learnings I wish I had when I started, so you can do both the inner and outer work to become a more fulfilled and impactful changeworker.

For this workshop, I’m so thrilled to bring in Anna Denardin, Decolonial Activist and Artist (she made all the incredible artwork for Parayma!).

Meet Anna Denardin

our Designer, Artist & Decolonial Practitioner

Anna Denardin is a Brazilian designer, artist, and systems explorer whose practice sits at the intersection of strategic thinking and creative disruption.

Her path began in civil engineering, with a focus on sustainable design and a Master's in cultural landscapes. Exploring Global South approaches to regenerative design, she began uncovering entrenched layers of colonial logic inside the sustainability industry itself, and shifted her practice to expose and dismantle the toxic patterns embedded in mainstream theories of change.

She has her own design studio, WCI Design, works with Solvable, facilitating transformative processes for organisations and teams, and is a navigator in the Possible Futures Decolonial Collective. Today, Anna brings together over a decade of illustration and graphic design with deep facilitation work, helping individuals and organisations move beyond performative change.

And guess what, Anna is also our artist in residence!

We’re lucky to have her with us!

Because the solution isn’t just to do more of the same, even as we witness collapse in real time.

We need to work towards changing the systems that perpetuate the social and economic problems we face, and this starts with more of us understanding the paradigms they are rooted in. We need to learn to think and act systematically, understanding ourselves as part of the systems - not separate from them.

Join our free 2-hour workshop, and leave with new clarity on what paradigms are, and the inner and outer work required to shift them. No beating around the bush here. It may be humbling, but it will also be empowering, and hopefully give you hope for what you can contribute, and what we can achieve together if we focus on shifting paradigms.

This is for you if…

  • You look at the state of the world and just now that we have to shift things on a deeper level but aren’t 100% sure how to go about it
  • You want to understand what people mean when they say things like ‘change the system’ or ‘shift paradigms’
  • You’ve been thinking about the deeper changes needed and want to meet others who have, too
  • You want to step into a new level of contribution to a more just and regenerative future
  • You aren’t afraid of confronting power dynamics

Here’s what we know for sure:

We can’t keep doing the same things, desperately hoping for different outcomes. There isn’t a foolproof blueprint for how to build a better future, but working towards paradigm shifts is a great place to start. And there is no better way to start, than together.

In the workshop, we’ll cover:

  • Definitions of key terms
  • How anyone can contribute to shifting paradigms
  • Why incremental tweaks aren’t enough
  • How to distinguish between surface-level changes and deeper work
  • What privilege and power have to do with it all
  • The challenges of working towards a more just and regenerative future
  • And more

It starts with us, in our everyday actions and choices, in how we think and show up. In our changework, in who we collaborate, and how.

Together, we’ll dive deep into the paradigms that currently dominate our world, and explore what other paradigms we may want to move towards.

We’ll dive into power and privilege, inner and outer work, and how to begin embodying the paradigms we wish to see - so that you’ll walk away with clarity on what you can do next.

What to expect

  • When: 23rd of April at 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm CEST
  • Format: Live 2-hour online workshop (via Zoom)
  • Cost: Free, registration required
  • Replay: Yes - all registrants will receive the replay

Let’s co-create the world we really want to live in.
