As seen in

From overwhelm to clarity

Climate breakdown, rising inequality, a news cycle that never lets up – caring about the world is hard. And yet, knowing what to do with that care is harder: too many causes, too little time, and the nagging fear of getting it wrong.

Go beyond ikigai and generic advice like "follow your passion." Finding Purpose, Seeding Change is a guided journal that helps you find the one contribution that is genuinely yours to make, right now, at this complex and critical point in human history.

Jana Ganzmann black and white Headshot

This book is an invitation to begin.

Nora asks the questions I have been asking every morning for sixty years – who are you, what is your gift, what will you do with it – and she gives you the space and the time to answer them properly. I encourage you to read it slowly. Sit with it, garden with it, walk with it. And then go and sow your seed of change. The world will be better for it.

Inside the book

Through reflections, prompts and practical exercises, this book will help you:

⁕ Build self-awareness:

Clarify the values, strengths, skills and passions that determine where you'll do your best work, and be able to keep doing it

⁕ See the system:

Understand what keeps the problem in place, and where change is actually possible

⁕ Find your place in the wider ecosystem:

Identify the gap you can fill, rather than duplicating what others already do well

⁕ Design your next steps:

Not just a role that fits a real need and who you are, but the concrete next steps to get there from where you stand today

⁕ Build the resilience to sustain it:

Because the work is long, and burning out helps no one

I'm signing and numbering one hundred copies myself, here in Switzerland. Each one carries a dedication to whoever you name at checkout, comes with a set of postcards printed from the artwork in the book, and is posted anywhere in the world at no extra cost. It will reach you before publication day.

Only a hundred because that is what I can sign between now and a February book tour. When they're gone, they're gone.

About the Author

Nora Wilhelm is a social entrepreneur, systems change advocate and artist from Switzerland, working towards a more just and regenerative world.

Her changework began at fifteen, with what she describes as a painful awakening to the state of the world. That set her on a path through activism, the Red Cross, international NGOs and over a decade with the European Youth Parliament, where she led the organising team for an international session of 300 young people under the patronage of the Swiss President.

In 2017 she co-founded collaboratio helvetica, an initiative catalysing systems change towards the Sustainable Development Goals in Switzerland, which she led until 2023. In 2021 her body stopped cooperating, and she was diagnosed with burnout – a turning point that reshaped how she understands changework. This led her to found the well • change atelier, a sanctuary for the givers of this world to replenish themselves through art-based practices, and later Parayma, the support hub for changeworkers and aspiring systems change leaders.

She holds a BA in International Affairs from the University of St. Gallen and an MSt in Social Innovation from the University of Cambridge, where her dissertation studied Social Innovation Labs in partnership with the Presencing Institute.

Her work has been recognised as a UNESCO Young Leader, Forbes 30 Under 30 Listmaker, and Dalai Lama Fellow, and she was a finalist for UNEP's Young Champions of the Earth. She has spoken at TEDx, the Conference of Swiss Development Cooperation and the Swiss Conference of City Mayors, and shared stages with Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkol Karman, Gael García Bernal, Rob Hopkins, and Satish Kumar.

Finding Purpose, Seeding Change is her first book.
