When Jordan Ibekwe launched her podcast, she didn’t know exactly what it would become but she knew one thing: it had to be a place where young people were seen, heard, and valued.

That vision became The World is Your Bowl of Noodles, a platform created to uplift Gen Z voices and remind the world that youth are not only capable, but powerful.

Through the #MyPieceForChange campaign, we invite people to share their unique contributions to collective transformation. This series exists to honor their stories, amplify their voices, and connect them with a wider community of like-minded peers. Today, we’re honored to introduce our Changeworker of the Week: Jordan Ibekwe whom we had the pleasure of interviewing for this special spotlight.

What’s your piece for change?

My piece for change is that I hope that the voices of the youth are heard and amplified all across the globe, and through the younger generation we can change the world.

What inspired you to begin this work or stay committed to it?

What inspired me to begin was my love for advocating. I wanted a platform where my generation is seen and not silenced. I wanted to create a place where the youth are given space to express themselves and tell their stories. When I started this podcast I had no idea on what it would become, but I knew I wanted it to be all about the younger generation, especially generation Z. Thus, The World is Your Bowl of Noodles was created, and the journey began.

What’s one hope or vision you hold for the future?

My hope for the future is peace and love. I hope that the world can learn to accept differences, and that we can appreciate one another. I hope for more children like me to continue to go change the world, continue to aspire for great things, and not be afraid to chase their dreams.

What support or connection are you currently looking for?

I am looking for those who are willing to change the world. It doesn’t matter how old you are, or where you are from, all I ask is for your voice. By connecting with The World is Your Bowl of Noodles, you are making your voice heard, and allowing the world to hear your story. Thus, to those who are committed, determined, and unafraid to make change this is the place for you to platform your initiative, and tell your story.

What’s one thing about your field or topic you wish more people knew, considered, or acted on?

One thing about my field or topic I wish more people knew would be that Generation Z is not lazy, but very smart, intelligent, passionate, like-minded individuals who are committed to change the world, and make the environment a better place. I wish people got to understand the younger generation then criticize us. I feel like once we give the younger generation space to speak their minds, and follow their hearts without being judged or pushed aside, there are so many great things we can accomplish. Thus, people need to spend time understanding the younger generation and who we are.

What practices, tools, or resources have supported you most on your changework journey?

I usually pray and thank God for allowing me to do what I do. Sometimes, I would write and debrief after each episode, which gives me time to appreciate what I am doing, and why I am doing it.

Can you share a moment or experience that deeply shaped the way you approach change today?

When I was in middle school I learned how to be a leader. I was bullied quite a bit, but from those experiences I learned how to face challenges differently. I learned how to stand up for myself, and stop allowing other people’s words to bring me down. I figured out my identity lied in the things that brought me love, joy, happiness, and motivation, which was my faith, my family, and my supporters. Moreover, in moments of pressure and discouragement they taught me how to pick myself up and keep going.

What collective shift do you believe is needed for meaningful change to happen and what gives you hope that it’s possible?

A collective shift would be realizing that you have the power to change the world because nobody can stop you from making a change but yourself. The more we rely on others and wait for someone else to take the stand, the more we waste time. Thus, people need to wake up and start speaking out on what is right.

How do you take care of your own energy or wellbeing while doing this work?

I take care of my wellbeing by taking time off. When schools get rough and difficult I would step aside and just relax and breathe. Sometimes I watch my favorite tv shows, or bake. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, family, and allowing my mind to rest.

Where can people learn more about your work or connect with you?

People can learn more about my work on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, which have the same name - The world is your bowl of noodles all throughout @TheWorldIsYourBowlofNoodles
